LUNGevity Foundation is pleased to offer the following research awards in 2025.
- New in 2025! Mid-Career “Bridge to Breathe” Award: This program will support established mid-career investigators who are seeking bridge funding to sustain their lung cancer research program while they resubmit their application for federal funding (NIH R01) or its equivalent. Mid-career investigators are often burdened by increasing administrative demands that jeopardize their ability to conduct cutting-edge research that will generate the new treatments and potential cures of tomorrow. This new mechanism is part of LUNGevity’s ongoing commitment to workforce development and is intended to maintain a robust pipeline of thoracic oncology leaders and research. This is a $150,000 two-year award.

New in 2025! Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research and LUNGevity Foundation for Early Detection Research Awards in Lung Cancer: This new award mechanism will support innovative studies in the early detection of lung cancer. Investigators may receive up to $1,000,000 per award, over three years. The Request for Application (RFA) supports clinical trials and validation studies that use new imaging, blood biomarkers, or monitoring algorithms and involve patient partners in the study design and execution, with the aim of:
- improving current stratification criteria for the high-risk population, or
- validating new early detection tests that are more acceptable than first line LDCT screening, or
- testing new methods for stratification risk of IPNs
Patient partnership is a key part of this grant application. Detailed instructions are included in the RFP. We invite you to watch this video that discusses how to engage patient and caregiver partners in research. More detailed information about the program, deadlines, and instructions on how to apply can be found here.
Please note: Letters of Intent for this award mechanism are due by February 12, 2025.
