LUNGevity Foundation Hosts "Take A Lap With LUNGevity" Walk as Part of NBC 4 Health & Fitness Expo, Jan 14-15

Washington, D.C. (January 11, 2012) LUNGevity Foundation, the nation’s largest lung cancer nonprofit, will participate in the NBC 4 Health and Fitness Expo January 14 – 15, 2012 from 9 am – 5pm at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. During the weekend, LUNGevity Foundation will host its “Take a Lap with LUNGevity” walk at the Get Healthy 4 Life Walking Track, Saturday, January 14 from 12 – 1pm.  Throughout the weekend, the Foundation will exhibit at booth#1507, and host a prize drawing for an Apple iPod touch.

To join News4 Chief Meteorologist Doug Kammerer, who emceed the Foundation’s November Breathe Deep DC Walk on the National Mall, “Take a Lap with LUNGevity” participants should meet at the LUNGevity table in the center of the Get Healthy 4 Life Walking Track at 12 noon. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite LUNGevity t-shirts and help create a strong LUNGevity presence for the hour that the organization has the track.

 In addition, those in the D.C. area are encouraged to stop by LUNGevity’s expo booth #1507. Foundation representatives will be handing out materials on lung cancer and educating expo attendees on LUNGevity Foundation and the resources it offers to the lung cancer community. Drop by the LUNGevity Foundation booth between 9 am to 5 pm on January 14 or January 15 to leave your business card or contact information for the prize drawing. The drawing will take place at the conclusion of the expo and the winner will be notified January 17.

LUNGevity has the largest grants award program for lung cancer research among lung cancer nonprofit organizations in the United States.  In 2011 alone, it awarded $2 million to fund nine of the most promising lung cancer research proposals in the areas of early detection and targeted therapeutics. To help support its mission and raise awareness of the disease, the organization hosts 60 community-building and fundraising events across the country each year. This year’s LUNGevity Breathe Deep DC Walk on the National Mall will be November 4, 2012.
