Differences in Biomarker Testing and Immunotherapies in African American Lung Cancer Patients

Speaker: Jian Carrot-Zhang, PhD, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Moderator: Eugene Manley, Jr, PhD, LUNGevity's Director of STEM Workforce Initiatives

In this session, Dr. Carrot-Zhang discusses her postdoctoral work with Dr. Matthew Meyerson on the differences in frequencies of driver mutations between European, American, East Asian, and South American populations and how this led to her starting her own lab at MSKCC in Computational Oncology.

The discussion also touches on the barriers to treatment and access to care, the underrepresentation of African Americans in clinical trials, and some of the work being done at MSKCC to reduce disparities.
