Washington, D.C. (January 17, 2012) LUNGevity Foundation, the nation’s largest lung cancer nonprofit, is gearing up for an aggressive year in fighting the nation’s number one cancer killer, lung cancer. As a thought leader and community hub, LUNGevity is providing critical resources to the lung community through its webinar series in partnership with GRACE.  The first webinar of 2012, “2011 Highlights in Lung Cancer Screening and Targeted Therapies” will take place Thursday, January 19th, at 7 pm EST, 4 pm PST. The webinar will address the most important developments in the field of lung cancer from 2011, with a special focus on new screening developments and improved use of targeted therapies for the treatment of the disease.  

Researchers, lung cancer survivors and their loved ones, as well as interested reporters and others engaged with the lung cancer community are encouraged to participate in the free webinar.

Dr. Jared Weiss, associate professor in the Department of Medical Oncology at the Lineberger Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will present his view of the key highlights of lung cancer research developments from the last year. His presentation will be followed by a 15 minute question and answer session with the live webinar audience.

Weiss also serves as director of the Lung Cancer and Head/Neck Cancer sections of GRACE, a nonprofitthat seeks to improve medical care for cancer patients by democratizing access to cutting edge information on optimal cancer management.
