Biomarker tests may provide information about changes, or mutations, in the cells that became cancer and whether a treatment is available that targets this change.

For some kinds of lung cancer, biomarker testing may be performed to provide information on whether there are changes in the cancer cells that can be targeted with specific drugs. We strongly advocate that people diagnosed with advanced-stage non-small cell lung cancer speak with their doctor about comprehensive biomarker testing.
